Some doll materials are softer and more delicate, making them more susceptible to staining, tearing, and tackiness. This “sensitive skin” requires an elevated level of care during storage, where even minor oversights can lead to permanent blemishes. The standard storage rules apply, but with an added layer of meticulousness.
The biggest risk for sensitive skin is dye transfer. While a white sheet is good, the safest bet is to use pure, unbleached cotton or a high-quality fleece blanket as the primary wrap. These materials have virtually zero risk of bleeding color. Avoid any printed or colored fabrics coming into contact with the doll, even for a short time.
When cleaning and powdering, gentleness is key. Use only your hands or an ultra-soft cloth to wash the doll, and apply renewal powder with the softest, fluffiest brush you can find to avoid any abrasive action. The storage container itself should have an exceptionally soft lining. Instead of just placing a blanket inside a plastic trunk, consider lining the entire trunk with custom-cut pieces of soft foam or fleece to create a plush, seamless cocoon. For hanging storage, ensure the bag is not only supportive but also has a very smooth, non-abrasive inner lining. This heightened attention to surfaces and materials will keep your doll’s sensitive skin flawless.
